I’ve been itching for a Kindle for some time now. Since I haven’t made the leap, I decided to give the Kindle iPhone App a try. I’ve downloaded it a while back but just recently bought my first book. So far the user experience has been great. The only issue I have is the purchasing of the books on the iPhone itself. I wonder why Amazon went so far with the app but made the actual purchasing experience a pain.
When you click on Get Books, it takes you to a page telling you to go back to your Mac or PC and buy it there or use Mobile Safari. Launching Mobile Safari to make the purchase is less than optimal considering you have to do a lot of zoom ins and outs to find the right book. I really wish Amazon did a better job with this part of the process. An iPhone formatted web app would probably increase their conversion rate. I hope Amazon makes this change soon.
