e61i

This post is long overdue. I got this nifty thing about a week ago. The e61i is a nice little device. Being that I’m a Treo user, the interface is still a bit foreign to me (series 60, but englarged). I’ve learned how to navigate around the device and found that overall it’s pretty well designed with some usability quirks. It may have something to do with the fact that I’m only using wi-fi only without a SIM but more on that later. In the meantime, if you want to learn more about this device, check out e-series.org.

Onto the lack of a data plan available in the U.S. Really…”it is what it is”. With a plethora “smart” devices out there, I’m shocked to find not one carrier with a pre-pay or month by month data-plan. The contracts are all for 1 year which is pretty standard. How does an out of country access their emails on their Blackberry or some other Smartphone? A message to the Carriers(T-Mobile/Cingular are you listening at all?): please make data plans easy and accessible. There’s a market out there for people like me who want just a data plan…thanks.
